It was hard to leave Cristalino; even after having been there almost a week it was clear the longer one stayed the more fascinating discoveries one could make. The next two pages of butterfly pictures, for example, were mostly taken there and is only a small sample of their diversity. But it was time to move on, so we journeyed back to Cuiaba for our third major area, the Chapada dos Guimaraes and the delightful Pousada do Parque.

On our last morning, lighting was perfect for these pictures of hummingbirds hitting this bush of red penstemon-like flowers.

All in all, a memorable trip with a terrific group of people. But wait! All these pictures and no butterflies? Stay tuned - the next two pages show some of the incredible variety seen on the trip. Prepare to be amazed.
