After two days in the cool environment of Savegre, we made our way to Tuis and the Rancho Naturalista lodge in the highlands above the Caribbean coast.

The bat that took up residence in my room at Rancho Naturalista was an interesting surprise, but made for a quiet roomate. Having enjoyed our stay at Rancho, we next made our way to Hotel La Quinta near Chilamate, which is only a short drive from Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui and the famous La Selva Biological Station. Arriving at the hotel around lunchtime, I took a quick stroll around the expansive gardens, and was again surprised by all the iguanas, snakes, and caimans wandering around.
