Birding Costa Rica - Page 4

A highlight of the trip was watching over the course of several hours as a boa constrictor managed to snatch a rather large iguana, held it wrapped tightly for a couple hours before consuming it, and then headed off on further adventures. Not a common occurrence, even the hotel employees were surprised by this event.

Everyone also agreed the boat tour of the mangroves on Rio Tarcoles was a major trip highlight, with great views of Boat-billed Herons, a variety of water birds we hadn't seen elsewhere, way cool fiddler crabs and quite a few caimans and crocodiles.
