A Birding Trip to Peru
Page 2 - On to Abra Malaga

After an overnight in Aguas Calientes near Machu Picchu, we spent the next few days high in the Andes and the pygmy cloud forest of Abra Malaga. Among my favorite moments was the stop at a small homestead where a few kids came out to greet us and seemed thrilled by the apples we passed out. One little girl let me take the picture of her rooster.
Much of the forest reminded me for some reason of old Chinese watercolors, which I finally realized must have been because of all the bamboo growing there.
