The New Zealand Journey

Our time in New Zealand drawing to a close, we wandered up the "Thermal Highway", stopping at a huge geothermal area, before heading to Waitomo for our last night. After a serious re-packing job we were about ready, but not before taking the tour of the Waitomo Caves. Pictures weren't allowed inside the cave, but it was just the most magical moment of the entire trip. Go visit the Waitomo Glowworm Caves website to get an idea of what it was like. Then it was off to the Otorohanga Kiwi House, which lets you visit with many of the birds we'd seen on the trip, as well as a few of those that are a bit more rare. A last little hike at the Auckland Botanical Gardens, and then we were off across the ocean after a most fascinating vacation.
